About

About WarPast

A living reference for the weapons that shaped history — and a marketplace for the collectors who preserve them.

WarPast documents arms and armor across all of human history: stone points and bronze blades, longswords and halberds, muskets, revolvers, and the rifles of the world wars. Every entry is organized along four dimensions — era, weapon type, country of origin, and historical context — so a piece can be found whether you know its name, its period, or only the conflict it served in.

The wiki comes first

We believe the history matters more than the sale. Each entry aims to cover a weapon's origin, design and construction, combat use, and legacy, with specifications recorded to the standards a collector expects. Entries are reviewed before they publish, and every revision is kept in the record.

A marketplace grounded in history

When a documented weapon is available for sale — from our own collection, a consignor, or a craftsman making faithful reproductions — the listing appears right on its wiki page, with the full historical record behind it. WarPast is a licensed firearms dealer (FFL), so antique and modern arms alike are handled lawfully and shipped through the proper channels.

Built by its community

WarPast grows through contributions. Researchers and collectors who write or improve entries earn store credit toward pieces in the shop, and our most prolific contributors are honored in the Hall of Fame. Have items of your own? You can consign them for sale on the same pages that tell their story.
